The last day of September has been grey, overcast and dreary so here's a photo of Felixstowe promenade taken a few days ago to remind me of the beautiful summer we've had this year.
It was one of those lovely warm evenings last night when we came out of the theatre so we took the opportunity to stroll along the promenade to see these beautiful illuminations.
To the Spa Pavilion at Felixstowe to see An Early Evening with Pam Ayres. This very funny lady had us laughing till our sides ached with her humorous poetry and comic reflections on life. A super evening.
Two books I collected from the library today. I fell in love with the pictures Delwyn used in her blog - a hazy moon - the Pollen Path (29.08.09) - that I wanted to see more of the artist's work - John William Waterhouse. The other book A Single Swallow follows the epic journey the writer made following the swallows migration from South Africa to South Wales. Can't wait to start reading both these books this weekend.
One more photo from yesterday. I couldn't resist snapping these beautiful lights inside the theatre. The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, is one of London's oldest theatres dating back to 1663 although the current building was opened in 1812. It has been tastefully refurbished and is a pleasure to visit.
A family day out in London to celebrate Granma's 85th birthday. We saw a superb performance of the musical Oliver with Omid Djalili as Fagin and followed this with dinner at one of our favourite restaurants in Covent Garden. A lovely day.
I discovered this poor old tree on one of my walks over Broomhill. Apparently it's been clinging on to life like this for a long time. My husband says he remembers playing in amongst the roots when he was a boy and that must be at least 50 years ago!!
I just love the colour and shape of these beautiful flowers which my sister has trailing over an archway in her garden. No one could tell me the name yesterday - if anyone reading this can help please add a comment.
